Church Weekend: - This is when the whole church (just about) goes away for the weekend, this year to eastern Belgium. This is a very important time in the life of the church, spiritually, socially, emotionally, etc. The weekend, whose theme was the father-child relationship in the family and with our Heavenly Father, was well attended. There was openness and transparency as people shared about their family experiences and tried to better understand God as our loving and perfect Father. On Saturday night the church put on a presentation to honor Lisa and I for our work there. We were deeply touched.
Even better was the surprise on Sunday. Some of you may have been aware that one of our elders, Jacques, had made some poor choices about 6 months ago. He had left his family and the church and cut off contact with most all believers. There was much prayer by the whole church. A couple months ago Jacques returned to his family, but he had not yet returned to the church. On Sunday Jacques drove out to our church weekend in easter Belgium. He stood up in front of the whole church, confessed his sin and asked forgiveness. What a great victory for God! There is still much healing to do, but we have once again seen God do something that few of us thought possible.
